You have worked as a set decorator on sets like Sex and the City, The Devil wears Prada etc., why do you think you were able to reach such success?
I think the reason I got to decorate those films was a combination of a good work ethic, understanding the sensilbilities of what people are hoping to put forth visually, listening, being open to collaboration, and not getting much sleep.
What is the secret to creating a Carrie Bradshaw space at home?
The secret to designing spaces for Carrie Bradshaw is: be creative, look for things that are fun and also great design, be brave, mix it up – high and low, pay attention to both what is new and what is old!
Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to work within the decorating industry?
The decorating industry requires a thick skin, it is a personal endeavor to put your creativity to use for another person’s home and then hope that they like it! It is all so personal. You have to learn not to take it to heart. Follow what you love, there are a lot of trends out there. Develop your own decorating style so people have a reason to want to work with you!
When you are putting together a space for a movie or a home, where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from: documentary photography and film, museums, art anywhere, fashion, street style, NYC!
If you could decorate the home of anyone real or fiction, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would decorate a yacht for Beyonce.
